Some of the flights got messed up and it got really stressful putting the pieces together to get home. Tripmasters found us alternative paths home very quickly and eased our tension right away. We've used tripmasters a few times and will continue to do so for our overseas travels.

The only real issue we had during the trip was dealing with baggage on short distance regional carriers. I think it bears special warning to travelers who are flying smaller regional airlines from city to city that their luggage (which flew for free internationally) will not be covered as part of their reservation.

We encountered delays and a great deal of confusion in Copenhagen flying SAS partner Air Berlin. At first only one member of our party needed to pay for luggage, almost a half hour at the counter and countless phone calls and supervisor consultations later, all three members needed to pay for luggage. We had to run through the terminal to the SAS counter to pay for our luggage before we could navigate security and board our flight, with little less than 20 minutes to spare.

If we'd received this warning in a more significant way (instead of a footnote in our itinerary), we would have saved a substantial amount of money, time, and panic at the airport by paying online when we checked in for the flight.

Our Observations:

Baggage fees for regional flights between European countries are becoming an industry standard, much as they have in the US between states. Baggage allowance does vary between airline carriers.

We are always working towards having the most accurate information per carrier and in some cases carriers are allowing us to pay the baggage cost ahead of time for a faster easier travel experience. We hope to have more info on this in the next coming months.
