Similar to a picture book, it shows through successive images the Norman Conquest by William the Conqueror, and is displayed in a museum in the town center. The town's medieval center features cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and the towering, Norman-Gothic Cathedrale Notre-Dame. Located only six miles from the Channel coast, Bayeux also offers excursions to the WWII Landing Beaches of Normandy as well as nearby chateaux and abbeys.
