►The hotels were nice. No complaints about service, staff attention, rooms, etc. The only aspect that made us feel a bit "out of place" occurred at the Mama Shelter; it seems the hotel tries to appeal to a younger crowd, essentially operating a nightclub in the lobby during the evenings. We're in the AARP generation, and nightlife isn't what we pursue when on vacation. Transportation to/from the airport to hotel in Ponta Delgada was fine. Our biggest complaint relates to our flight from Lisbon to Boston, on TAP. The flight was delayed for reasons not explained to passengers (did not appear related to the weather). We missed on connecting flight to Detroit on JetBlue due to the delay. Our choices were to accept a JetBlue flight more than 12 hours later, or book one-way tickets on another airline about 6 hours later. We chose the latter, adding an unexpected cost of about $450 to our expenses. Flight delays seem more common than ever in the travel industry nowadays; however, TAP would not be our first airline preference for any future vacations.
