LEIPZIG - HOTEL ZONES

Zentrum (City Center)

The city center or `Zentrum` (or `innenstadt`, inner-city) is lively and mostly pedestrianized. The Zentrum area offers loads of shopping, restaurants, business offices, and hotels. This is where you`ll also find the City Hall, and the major University of Leipzig campus, as well as numerous cultural and historical sites. The city center brings countless artistic venues and historic sites, with most attractions within walking distance such as the St. Thomas Church, Bach Museum, St Nicholas Church, Museum of Fine Arts, Opera Leipzig, Old Town Hall, and much more.

Outskirts

Leipzig is spread out but is compensated by a good transport system. Many locals (Leipzigers) live well out of the Zentrum, the city center, in places like Meusdorf, Markkleeberg, Miltitz or Wahren. The trams and S-bahn criss-crossing the city make sure no one is isolated. But if your visit revolves around being close to the center of Leipzig the outskirts probably won`t be worthwhile as you could be spending a lot of time traveling back and forth (depending on your destination).

Mitte

The Hotels situated in the Mitte district are close (typically less than a mile) from Mendelssohn-Haus, City-Hochhaus Skyscraper, Gewandhaus Concert Hall, Krystallpalast Variete Dinner Theater, Kabarett Akademixer, Museum for Applied Arts and Augustusplatz square. This area is also convenient to the Leipzig Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz train station and about 1.25 miles from Central Station Leipzig. You can also walk to Leipzig city center and its many sights fairly quickly, about 10 - 15 minutes, depending on where you stay in the Mitte district.
