FUSSEN - GETTING AROUND

On Foot

Füssen is small enough that it is easy to get around on foot, and it is the best way to get see the area. You can also walk to Neuschwanstein and Hochschwangau castles via some marked roads.

By Car

Füssen is small enough that it is not necessarily to have a car. However, there are some great areas nearby, such as some of the lesser-known castles, could be easier to reach with your own car. It is possible to rent a car in Füssen.

There is a fair amount of parking (at a charge) in town, just make sure to get a parking pass at the machines.

By Bicycle

There are numerous bike rental shops in the city center, one even right at the train station. Füssen has invested a lot into developing a network of bike routes and paths to make biking easier.

By Taxi

Füssen is small enough that taxis are not really needed. Taxis to the castles are about €10 each way and can be picked up at Füssen Bahnhof (train station).

By Public Transportation

There is a bus to the castles and trains to Munich and Augsburg. RVO buses 78 and 73 (www.rvo-bu.de) serve the castles from Füssen Bahnhof (train station). The cost is about €4.40 return and tickets can be purchased from the driver.

There are frequent bus connections to the castle, about every 30 minutes. Take bus number 73 (direction of Steingaden/Garmisch-Partenkirchen) or bus number 78 (direction of Schwangau). Exit at `Hohenschwangau, Schwangau(Schlösser)` (easy, as most everyone departs that bus at this stop). The bus runs every 30 minutes. Journey time is 10 minutes.
