Monte-Carlo (City Center)

Monaco`s best-known district and the wealthiest of them all. Monte Carlo has reached international fame as a luxury resort with its Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Hotel de Paris. This is also the area centered around nightlife and designer shopping where you`ll find the likes of Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Chanel. This is also the area famous for the Monaco Grand Prix that takes place every year in May. This is the principal residential and resort area of the country.

La Condamine

La Condamine is the country`s port area situated in the northwest section. This district has a large harbor that attracts the most commercial activities with merchant ships. This is also where visitors can catch a glimpse of the Prince`s yacht. There are over 200 shops to browse, as well as the Condamine market that is open every day, year round. The pedestrianized Princess Caroline area is also an enjoyable spot for window shopping and strolling.

Monaco-Ville

Monaco-Ville, often referred to as Le Rocher or the Rock, is the oldest part of the principality. Built up high on a rocky headland extending into the Mediterranean Sea, this area has stayed true to its medieval village character. Here you will find the Prince`s Palace, as well as the Cathedral. It is mostly a tourist destination with a number of quaint boutiques, souvenir and crafts shops, as well as numerous little cafes and restaurants.

Fontvielle

Fontvielle is the main industrial and economical area, named for the ancient spring that is found here. It is a newly constructed area of reclaimed land from the sea. This district is populated by numerous businesses, residents as well as the Fontvielle Shopping Center, which offers various restaurants and shops, far less expensive than in neighboring areas. The famous Princess Grace Rose Garden can also be found in this district.
