CANNES - NEIGHBORHOODS

City Center

The city center is the heart of Cannes, centered on the Rue d`Antibes, and offering a lively atmosphere.This neighborhood is often referred to as 'La Banane' by the locals for its banana shape on the map. It is a commercial hub where you'll find the train station and many of the city's best restaurants and numerous sidewalk cafes. The city center also boasts a multitude of shops where you can buy everything from fashion to food.

Le Sequet (OldTown)

Just up from the old port, perched on the slopes of Mont Chevalier, lies Le Suquet district, the original fishing village. You will find picturesque, winding lanes offering magnificent views of modern Cannes and the sea below. The area has retained its Old World ambiance and some of the best historical sites in the city. Wandering around this area you`ll find narrow old staircases and streets, beautiful courtyards, and interesting historic remnants, such as the city`s ancient walls. In the heart of Le Suquet, the old church, Eglise du Suquet, and the 11th-century Tour du Mont Chevalier watch tower offer beautiful panoramic views of the beach and the bay all the way out to the Lerins Islands. Also located here is the Rue Meynadier, the town`s main shopping street, renowned for its specialty boutiques. Rue d`Antibesa, just a few blocks away, is a shopping destination for French Riviera fashions, lined with designer prĂȘt-a-porter clothing boutiques.

La Californie District

Named for its similarities to the western US state, La Californie boasts a beautiful green landscape with Mediterranean flora in bloom all year long. This suburb was once the home of the British and Russian royal families. Today, La Californie remains an upscale neighborhood with lavish villas hidden away amongst vast green estates.

La Croisette District

Located between the city center and the sea, La Croisette district boasts a beautiful promenade that stretches along the complete length of the Cannes coastline. Here you will find exclusive boutiques, grand hotels with their private beaches, outdoor cafes and exclusive residents. The areas private beaches and swank hotels come alive with camera crews, film producers, directors and stars during film festival time.

Le Cannet

Located on the outskirts the peaceful suburb of Le Cannet offers an escape from the hustle and bustle. The town is surrounded by quaint architecture while its restaurants and arts and craft galleries offer a relaxed atmosphere.

Petit Juas

Petit Juas offers a peaceful village atmosphere, located just minutes from the center of Cannes. The residential neighborhood is made up of villas and some impressive houses. Although this area is not far from the center of Cannes, it offers visitors a quiet reprieve from the lively city atmosphere.
