BODEGAS (CELLARS) IN PUERTO SANTA MARIA

Puerto de Santa Maria is part of the great sherry triangle that connects with Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlucar de Barrameda. Be sure to ask for the locally produced fino which is very light and dry.
When driving the highways of Spain have you ever noticed the huge bulls that have been constructed in fields next to the road? Well these bulls were originally advertising billboards for the Osborne winery. When the government decided they were a distraction to motorists such advertising was banned but nobody was upset by the sight of these huge bulls so they remained without publicity on them. You`ll also occasionally see the outline of a man with a guitar. This was Gonzalez Byass`s roadside advertisement for their Tio Pepe brand which has also survived the test of time.

Numerous well know producers have wineries there that are open to visitors. Osborne has two wineries located in Puerto de Santa Maria as follows:

Osborne - Bodega De Mora
c/Los Moros, s/n
Phone: 956 869 100

Osborne - Bodega El Tiro
Ctra Nacional IV, KM 651
Phone: 956 854 228
Both wineries offer a similar experience with a guided tour of the cellars, an audio visual show and a tasting culminating in a visit to their wine store.

An interesting visit architecturally thanks to the style of buildings from the 19th century and the beautiful patios and gardens. You can also visit the carriage museum and horse stables. There`s a horse show during the summer months.

Gutierrez Colosia
A friendly family-run bodega at El Puerto de Santa Maria, just a swirl and a spit from the Guadalete River. It`s an intimate place with a gift for hospitality; great papas con choco (potatoes and cuttlefish stew) and a passion for flamenco.
