Bran is a small town in Brasov County, central Romania, nestled at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. It’s about 19 miles from the city of Brasov and approximately 105 miles north of Bucharest.

Most visitors coming to Bran have to first arrive at Brasov or need to make a day trip from Bucharest. Bran Castle is about 18 miles away from Brasov and is located at the entrance of the Rucar - Bran passage. By Bus: The Bus Terminal No. 2 at Brasov has regular buses to and from Bran - Moeciu every 30 minutes during the weekdays and every 1 hour during the weekends. You can buy the tickets directly from the driver. The duration is 45 minutes. The bus prices are inexpensive.

By Train: The Bucharest North Railway Station has a train to Brasov every hour. You can take either the Intercity (CFR) line or the Regional line. The duration is 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Taxi: Bran is about 18 miles away from Brasov. There a quite a few taxi services available in brasov, the drive is about 30 minutes.

If you drive to Bran Castle, there are paid parking facilities available at the Castle. However, if you want to save a few bucks and don't mind a scenic walk, then you can park for free at the Bran village nearby. The free car parking service is available on a first-come-first-served basis, so it's possible that you may not find a free parking spot easily, or you may have to walk a longer distance.

Bran Castle is famously associated with Dracula due to Bram Stoker's novel, but there's no historical evidence that Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for Dracula) ever lived there. However, it matches the castle's description in the novel and has fully embraced its Dracula-themed fame.

A day trip is enough time to see Bran Castle and explore the small village, but staying a night or two allows you to enjoy the mountain scenery, hiking, and rural charm without rushing.

Outside of visiting the castle, many visitors enjoy hiking in the Bucegi or Piatra Craiului Mountains, visiting the Village Museum near the castle, exploring the Horror House Bran, and shopping for local crafts and souvenirs.
