Annecy

Situated in the in the North of the French Alps, Lac d`Annecy is surnamed the Venice of Savoie because of the small canals and streams which dissect the medieval town center built around a 14th Century Chateau. It`s known for its Vieille Ville (old town), with cobbled streets, winding canals and pastel-colored houses. You can explore the arcaded streets where Jean-Jacques Rousseau arrived in 1728. Once a Gallo-Roman town, the seat of the comtes de Genève, Annecy opens onto one of the best views of lakes and mountains in the French Alps.

Chamonix Mont Blanc

Site of the first Winter Olympic Games, in 1924, Chamonix is in a valley almost at the junction of France, Italy, and Switzerland, at an altitude of 3,422 ft. Skiers all over the world love its 12-mile Vallée Blanche run, the longest, in Europe. Its breathtaking backdrop, Mont Blanc, western Europe`s highest mountain at 15,780 ft. and the exceptional equipment have transformed Chamonix in one of Europe`s major sports resorts.

Evian les Bains

Evian is situated north of the department of Haute Savoie, on the south bank of Lake Geneva, and is one of the leading spa resorts in France. The town is built standing against the massif of the Alpine foreland of Chablais. Its spectacular surroundings between lake and mountains and its architectural heritage have given it its renown as an international tourist resort.

Morzine

Morzine is a pretty, traditional French town in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. It has grown over the years to become a charming ski resort in winter and a popular biking, hiking and alpine climbing destination in summer. The resort is filled with cruisy, tree-lined blue and red runs, and it`s also linked directly to the ski resorts of Avoriaz and Les Gets. It is less than 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva airport, making it one of France`s most accessible ski resorts. As there is no main rail link to Morzine from Geneva or Paris the most efficient way to travel is by road.

Megeve

Megeve is a charming and glamorous little ski town in the French Alps. It is often overlooked by the large tourist towns, which along with its rustic charm, makes it one of the most stylish ski resorts in France. Megeve is nearly 100 years old and has always been regarded as a high-end destination by skiers since the first lift was put in. It has a notoriety for its fine dining, excellent shopping and some of the best views in the alps. Adding to its charm are horse-drawn sleigh rides and traditional markets each Friday.

Les Gets

Les Gets is a very family-friendly resort in one of the world’s largest ski areas, Les Portes du Soleil, in the French Alps. Its short transfer time from Geneva airport and gentle treelined slopes attract skiers to Les Gets year after year. In recent years Les Gets has been going through a modernization with elegant architecture that keeps with the more old-fashioned buildings. With ski lifts within easy reach of much of the accommodation, Les Gets is an excellent choice for families heading out on their first French Alps ski trip.

Yvoire

Yvoire, located on the French shore of Lake Geneva, is a medieval city built in the early 14th century that has been nicknamed the “gem of the lake”. It is a picturesque little village known for its medieval buildings, exquisite flower-hewn streets and an old chateau overlooking Lac Leman with a 700-year-old history to be proud of. Be sure to visit the Jardin des Cinq Sens or The Garden of Five Senses, a beautiful place, that pleases all senses. Hundreds of fragrant flowers, fruits and other plants, the labyrinths and beautiful architecture provides a unique experience. The narrow streets are full of old alpine style buildings with stone walls, sloping roofs, wooden balconies and shutters. A few houses have doubled up as “souvenir” stores.

Avoriaz

The high-altitude ski resort of Avoriaz that interlinks well with Morzine, and there is so much to see and do. This town is not just limited to skiing with so much to see and do. The town is a purpose built more sno-sure resort with great ski access. It is one of the most popular ski resorts not only in the Portes du Soleil but in the French Alps. It is almost unique in that it is within the realms of high altitude at 5,905-ft but also has a transfer time of just an hour and a half from Geneva airport. Avoriaz alongside the likes of Alpe d'Huez and Obergurgl is an Alpine rarity because of this.

Saint-Gervais-les-Bains

St Gervais is an elegant mountain spa town that had been attracting visitors since the early 1900s. It lies in the heart of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area which offers over 275 miles of slopes towards Megeve, Combloux, Les Contamines-Hauteluce and La Gietaz, and the most direct access to the summit of Mont Blanc on the famous 'Voie Royale'. It is from the village of St Gervais that the Mont Blanc tramway departs. This tramway is actually the highest in France, the fourth highest in Europe and the only railway offering magnificent views of the Mont Blanc. It takes passengers up to the Nid d'Aigle at an altitude of 2,372 m, as well as the Bionnassay glacier. In winter, this train takes skiers up to the Bellevue plateau.
