POLLENÇA - WHERE TO STAY

Pollença (Pollensa)

The friendliness of its people, the richness of its gastronomy, its stunning coastline with paradisiacal beaches and coves, combined with the beauty of a typical Mallorcan town full of history and tradition, make Pollença (Pollensa in Spanish) one of the main destinations in Mallorca. The natural surroundings of Pollença have fascinated many artists. Just picture yourself paddling in a transparent blue sea, sheltered by awe-inspiring mountains. The surroundings of Pollença offer many options for lovers of nature and the outdoors.

The main tourist attractions in Pollença include the Church of Santa Maria de Pollença, just off the Plaça Major; the Jardines de Joan March, a beautiful open-air space; the hilltop Calvary Chapel which is popular with those on religious pilgrimages; and the Museu de Pollença which is located inside an old convent. Pollença is spoiled for choice as far as restaurants are concerned and you can find dozens of them spread out throughout the town. Pollença's accommodation options inside the town are not plentiful, but just outside the town limits, as you drive down the Ma-2201 and Ma-2202 motorways, you will see many beautiful vacation villas alongside rolling hills and gorgeous wineries.

Port de Pollença (Puerto de Pollensa)

Port de Pollença, three miles northeast of Pollença proper, is one of the longest urbanizations in Mallorca, stretching for nearly a mile and a half while only having a width of about 500 feet. This long, narrow town is home to a very popular beach, which includes the smaller sub-beaches of L'Arenalet and Can Cap de Bou. Port de Pollença is a popular destination for watersports. There is a surfing school here, and paragliders and waterskiers also love to enjoy activities at the beach. The front part of the beach offers sun-loungers and parasols. Enjoy the sun and the magificent view of the Badia de Pollença.

The Plaça Miguel Capllonch and the roundabout just to the southwest are the two markers which denote the center of the urbanization. A number of hotels, resorts, shopping centers, bars and restaurants can be found within a five-block radius. Hotels and resorts stretch the entire length of the beach, with some of these properties situated a few streets back from the shoreline. The well-travelled road between Port de Pollença and Alcúdia leads right along the beach.
