There is no airport in Targu Neamt, the closest airports are Suceava Airport located 40 miles away with options to rent a car, or take a bus. Bacau International Airport and Iasi International Airport are two other options.

The city can be reached via 6-7 daily trains from Pascani station on the Bucharest-Suceava-Iasi mainline, the journey takes about 35 minutes and is operated by Reiotrans.

There are several buses daily from Iasi which is a 2-hour journey, Piatra Neamt a one-hour journey, Targu Mures a five-hour journey, or Brasov a 7 ½ hour journey.

The main train and bus station in the city is located in Strada Cuza Voda, just outside of the city center. There are taxis available outside the stations to connect to your hotel, or some accommodations may be within walking distance.

The main form of transportation in the city is buses, the closest bus stations in the city are Orion and Piatra-Neamt just a few minutes walk from the city center. The A1, A5, A8, and A9 lines operate in the city. There are minibusses available in the city as well.

There are several major roadways that connect to the city of Targu Neamt. Renting a car when visiting the city is one of the best ways to reach the region and connect from the airports. There is plenty to see and do in the city and surrounding areas.

There are some taxis available in the city, many can be found outside the main stations. Taxis can be ordered by phone from your hotel.

The town is walkable and many of the sights and attractions are within walking distance.

Riding a bike around town is a pleasant experience and a great way to explore.

Shopping opportunities can be found in the city center with traditional shops and souvenir stalls selling clothing, arts and crafts, and more.

Targu Neamt is a very safe destination for tourists with crimes against visitors being very rare. There are few other cities anywhere in the world that feel safer, there is plenty of police presence around town, especially in frequently visited tourist sights and attractions. Be aware of pickpockets in crowded areas especially on board public transport, don’t exchange money in the Change Bureaus, always use Banks. Keep your valuables close, be aware of your surroundings, and don’t wander around alone at night. If you rent a car be sure to take extra precautions and lock your vehicle and remove any valuables.

The official language spoken in Turga Neamt is Romanian, the closest currently spoken relative to ancient Latin. Many people will also be able to speak French, Spanish, and Italian, and the Roma people will speak the native Romany. Many people speak English especially in the service industry at hotels and restaurants, and many locals speak Italian. The best time to visit Targu Neamt is the summertime when temperatures are warm and comfortable allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoors. Late June to August is a great time to visit with temperatures that reach the upper 80’s with lows in the 60’s at night. The warm season lasts for close to 4 months from May to September with daily highs around 68 F and up to 77 F. Mamaliga is a cornmeal porridge similar to polenta served with many main courses topped with sour cream and cheese. Mici (“small ones”) is made of combinations of ground meat and spices grilled on the barbecue, normally served with mustard and fresh bread. Ciroba de burta (Tripe soup) is a popular first course in Romania made with boiled beef tripe, vegetables, and served with sour cream, vinegar, and a garlic paste.
