WEATHER IN TUSCANY

Best time to visit:

The main tourism season stretches from mid-April to the end of September with July and August being peak months. The best time to visit Tuscany is in the quieter part of the season, from April to June and from September to October when the weather is mild, the prices are lower and there are fewer tourists. It is also advantageous to visit during the 'off season' (winter and early spring) as rates are much lower and the number of tourists is significantly reduced.

The periods around Easter and Christmas are also peak times since many Italians go on vacation for the holidays. Often you will find higher prices during these holidays as well as in July and August for both accommodation and services.

Climate:

The climate in Tuscany is generally very mild with differences depending on geography. The coast and valleys tend to have hotter summers than the hills and mountains. April and May as well as October and November are good months to visit as the days are sunny; however the chances of rain are higher. Winter offers sunny, mild days but nights are cold, especially in hill areas.

The warmest months are July and August. June and September also offer warm weather, but without it being too hot.

The coolest months are December and January. Temperatures average about 45°F along the coast with inland temperatures ranging from 38 to 42°F. Temperatures in the mountains are below freezing with snowfall that attracts skiers.

On average, November is the month with the most precipitation, but October, December, March and April also get a good amount of rain.
