Um ar-Rasas, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is valued by archaeologists for its extensive ruins dating to the Roman, Byzantine, and early Muslim periods. Take time in the museum before hiking into the ancient city, and hire a local guide if you'd like to delve deeper into the history of the remains. You can also drive or walk to the remote stylite tower and the site also has 16 churches, some with well-preserved mosaic floors.
