Little Petra
The Little Petra archeological site, also known as Siq al-Barid, is another genuinely fascinating Unesco world heritage site since 1985 and famous for its ancient buildings sculpted out of solid red sandstone. Madaba
This colorful market town is best known for a collection of Byzantine-era mosaics. Madaba, home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, has one of Jordan's largest Christian communities. The most famous of these is the map on the floor of St George’s Church, but there are many others in different parts of the town, several of them even more complete and vibrantly picturesque.
