Curtea de Arges (`The Court Upon the Arges River` in Romanian) is so named because it was the former capital of Wallachia and home to its royal court. It is also the final resting place of multiple generations of the Romanian royal family, who are interred at the grand Byzantine-Moorish Curtea de Arges Cathedral. Other noteworthy sights include the ruins of the Wallachian royal court and its only intact building, the Princely Church of St. Nicholas.
