Laying in central Crete, Rethymnon is a radiant mix of old and new. It has a young and lively nightlife blended with ancient monuments from long-gone days and differing cultures. The city of Réthymno is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Greece: Venetian fortifications mingle harmonically with orthodox and catholic churches, mosques, grand mansions of Venetian architecture, arches and cobblestone streets they all create a wondrous atmosphere. Rethymnonn is a great place for shopping. From the marina harbor market held on Thursdays to the high class chic boutiques in the old town of Rethymnonn, you're sure to find a bargain. Resting just east of Chania, the coastlines of Rethymnonn Prefecture are speckled with quaint seaside towns, leaving plenty of untouched land for Cretan wildlife.

The Rethymnonn area basks in a plethora of truly picture postcard perfect towns and Crete villages, gorgeous mountains, marvelous beaches, legendary caves, historic monasteries and monuments and traditional mountain villages. You'll find some of the best beaches in Crete amongst the seaside villages of Panormos, Bali and Gerani. On the south coast the lovely beach resorts of Agia Galini and Plakias can be found. Further inland you can discover the hidden beauties of the village of Anogia close to Mountain Idi (Psiloritis), which is the highest mountain on Crete. It is truly one of the most scenic and traditional villages of Rethymnon.
