POSITANO - HOTEL ZONES

City Center

There are dozens of hotels in Positano, all completely different and unique, but all beautiful. When choosing a hotel, the most important thing to keep in mind is location. Since Positano is all vertical, where you stay could mean hundreds of steps every time you need to access your accommodations. Positano is built on the side of a mountain, and some hotels are located at the top of the hill (which means a lot of stairs/walking) and some are located at the bottom. Staying mid-mountain or at the bottom of the mountain allows you to be closest to the main beach, Spiaggia Grande, as well as all the restaurants and shops.

Positano is a tiny village, so `city center` can basically be considered Positano `proper` where the pedestrian part of the village begins. There are only two main roads that run through Positano, so carrying your luggage through the narrow alleywasy is inevitable weather you stay at the top or bottom of the hill. The city center is busy and lively, staying in this area will allow you to be a part of the action and amongst all the amenities in town.

Outskirts

Staying outside of the city center allows travelers to come and go as they please, but have the benefit of being in a quieter setting when you return to your accommodation, assuming that you are okay with walking. Anywhere you stay will have stunning views (most likely with terraces). Staying in the outskirts is not only a little quieter, but you can save some money being a little further out from the beach and city center.
