Welcome to Positano, famous for its colorful buildings, excellent restaurants, and ideal location on the Amalfi Coast. Upon arrival, check in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to experience!

The village of Positano is home to tiny, winding roads that run down to the sea and are lined with restaurants, shops, and cute boutique hotels. Spend some time wandering the twisting roads of the village and exploring the beach path that hugs the mountainside. Every twist and turn brings something new and exciting into view. As you wander around, stop in one of the charming cafes for an enjoyable bite to eat while taking in the intoxicating vibe of the town.

For art lovers, make sure to stop in some of Positano`s Art Galleries. There are a handful of cute, little galleries in the city center that are fantastic to discover. You`ll also find a ton of cute clothing boutiques, ceramic shops and souvenir shops. Crochet and white linen dresses, tops, and pants can be found everywhere as well as lemon candy, lemon soap, lemon-scented perfume, limoncello, and pretty much anything lemon flavored you could possibly want!

Most of the galleries and boutiques open around 10 am and stay open till sunset, but keep in mind Italians are known for taking long work breaks in the afternoon for lunch or to nap, so you might find some of the galleries closed for part of the day.

And while here, you will want to make sure to buy some local shoes. Positano is known for their sandals and a lot of places will custom make them for you. You pick out the design and the material and they will fit the sandal to your foot.

Make sure to pay a visit to the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the centerpiece of Posiatano. This is the landmark reference for finding where you are and where to go. Inside on the alter are Byzantine treasures dating back to the XIII century, including the Virgin Madonna. It is free to enter, and it is worth visiting just to experience the spiritual cam that comes with taking a few minutes out of your day to sit in silence and reflect.

If you are comfortable driving scooters, mopeds, or small motorbikes, rent the classic Italian mode of transportation and see the coast on a Vespa. Scooters give you the freedom to explore the winding Cliffside Amalfi roads, as well as the narrow back streets you`d never want to drive down. They`re small, easily maneuverable, and can get around all those tour buses with ease.

If time and energy allow, take a hike! Montepertuso is a hamlet in the town of Positano, on a hill in the upper part of town. The name literally means `hole in the mountain`, which refers to the enormous rock structure you`ll see. According to legend this is where the battle between the Virgin Mary and the Devil occurred, and the giant hole in the mountain was made by the index finger of the Virgin. It’s an ideal place for hiking in Positano thanks to several well-worn paths which connect the hamlet of Montepertuso to the Lattari Mountains.

As night falls, stroll the Positano streets at night. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful times of day in Positano is after the sun goes down and the locals settle in. It`s then that the streets quiet down to a whisper. As you wander, you`ll smell the fragrance of night blooming jasmine alternate with the mouth-watering smells of home-cooking. The street lights glow and it`s a great way to see the luch side of this beautiful place. Bring your camera to snap the golden illumination around every corner.
