City Center

The inner city is full of narrow, romantic streets that are encompassed by the City Mountain, former fortification, medieval buildings facades as well as beautiful modern architecture; it is a living museum that is always bustling with activity. Summer and winter, the city is bustling with activity. Staying in the city center will allow you easy access to a number of interesting sites, as well as many nice restaurants and shops scattered throughout the area all within walking distance.

Geidorf

Geidorf, is the location of the main university of the city, meaning that lots of student-friendly businesses are always popping up. One landmark that`s located in this part of town is the Geidorf Kunstkino, the area`s art house cinema. It is also home to the Botanical Gardens, which is beautiful for summer strolls. Geidorf is also home to one of Graz`s most special annual events, the festival of light and sound (Klanglicht), a magical spectacle that sees countless stunning installations by local and international artists.

Gries

Gries is located on the western side of Mur and is known for being one of the cheaper neighborhoods to live where it was founded by immigrants that moved to this area. For a long time, this neighborhood was avoided by many and deemed unsafe, however, it has since been gentrified and has experienced a revival. Many independent shops and cafes have opened in this area and it has become a center of Graz nightlife.

Lend

The Lend district in Graz is also a shining star of the arts and cultural scene. A large number of design shops have opened in this area, turning the neighborhood into an excellent lace to look for original souvenirs and gifts. You will also find several progressive projects that have been initiated in this area. Lend is centrally located and the city center can be reached within walking distance.

Outskirts

Most of the hotels located it the outskirts of the city are within a reasonable walk to the center of town, or within easy reach of public transportation. We recommend to double check the location of any of these hotels. Staying in the outskirts can be a good way to get the most out of a limited budget, provided your plans are a bit flexible. Just make sure you have good public transportation close to your hotel so you can still get around with ease.

St. Leonhard

St. Leonhard is located in the east of the city along the Leonhardbach and stretches south to the St. Peter City Cemetery. It borders the district of Geidorf to the north, Ries and Waltendorf to the east, Jakomini to the south and Innere Stadt to the west. Staying in St. Leonhard offers a picturesque town with some attractions, including the Styrian Armoury, the Mausoleum of Emperor Ferdinand II, The Graz Cathedral and the Art Museum, all which are within 20 minutes walking distance. The location also offers many restaurants, bars and specialty shops in the surrounding area. The Graz Ost-Messe Station is within walking distance of most of the hotel accommodations in this area.
