New Delhi

New Delhi is the new capital of India as of 1931, located in the north-central part of the country on the West Bank of the Yamuna River, next door to Delhi City or Old Delhi. The area was built by the British and is made up of several popular neighborhoods that house some of the most famous five-star hotels in the city including The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel and Sydney Grand Hotel and Resort. The area features tree-lined boulevards; wide open green spaces situated about 3 miles south of the Delhi City Center, the upmarket Lodhi Colony neighborhood and the bohemian Shahpurjat are located in New Delhi. This diverse location offers visitors bustling bazaars, vibrant markets, swanky hotels and fancy restaurants.

Diplomatic Enclave

The city`s diplomatic quarter or Chanakyapuri is an affluent neighborhood situated in New Delhi that was established in the 1950`s. This wealthy neighborhood is home to the city`s foreign embassies as well as the residence of politicians and civil servants of the Indian Government. The Prime Minister’s residence is located nearby and there are several parks and wide open spaces to explore in this upmarket area of town. Visit Rashtrapati Bhavan, Sansad Bhawan and India Gate for some of the best food and hospitality found in the entire city.

Connaught Place

Connaught Place also known as CP is the heart of New Delhi, the largest financial, commercial and business district in India. The centrally located district features hotels, shops, restaurants, bars, offices and tourist attractions including the Hanuman Mandir temple and the Jantar Mantar observatory. There are seven streets that radiate from the traffic circle at Connaught Place where most of the shops, banks, and eateries can be found. The Palika Bazaar, an underground market, and Janpath Market, a large open-air shopping center are also located here.

The area was named after the Duke of Connaught and was established back in the 1920`s. It was built by the British as a commercial center featuring Georgian Style buildings and European Renaissance style landmarks inspired by the Royal Crescent of Bath in England. The beautiful sprawling Central Vista Park lies in the center of CP and is the perfect location for a relaxing stroll. Stroll along the broad tree-lined avenues and check out some of the finest hotels and shopping in the city.
