Borgo Maggiore

The modern town of Borgo Maggiore is located northeast of the city of San Marino, the republic`s capital, on the slopes of Monte Titano. It is one of the largest residential areas and considered a suburb of the city of San Marino, where most of the capital`s shops and businesses are located. Borgo Maggiore is the principal market town of the republic, and is also the seat of the Italian Consulate. Historically it was established as part of the city of San Marino, but after growth, has been established as a separate town. Borgo Maggiore is connected to the capital by cable car (funicular) and road and to Rimini, Italy.

Dogano

Dogano is situated at the northernmost point of San Marino after Falciano, close to the border with Italy. The town is the main entry and exit point for travelers arriving into San Marino from Italy by freeway and is the most populated settlement in the republic. Although Dogana literally translates as `Customs House`, there are no border checkpoints as you enter or exit San Marino, and the main buses that run from Italy into the state usually stop at several shopping malls that are located in Dogana.
