BEAUNE - GETTING AROUND

On Foot

Beaune is compact making it a great city for walking. The old center of town is surrounded by a ring street that follows the old city walls.

By Train

There are regular trains departing from Dijon Gare to Beaune. It takes only 20 minutes and is one stop away; a one way ticket costs about €8. Beaune has a direct link from Paris-Bercy by Regional Express train (3.5 hours). However, it is faster to take the TGV from Paris-Lyon to Dijon and connect to a local train (2.5 hours). There are occasionally services from Paris-Lyon directly to Beaune, without the need to transfer.

By Public Transportation

Buses: Bus lines 44, 72 and 74 have connection with Chalon-sur-Sâone, Saulieu and Seurre cities respectively.

Taxis: There is a taxi rank at the Beaune train station.

By Car

Beaune is easily accessible by the motorways A6, A31, and A36 and is 2.5 hours from Paris and 45 min from Lyon.

If you have a car and are exploring the city center there are a number of parking lots on the ring roads.

By Bicycle

Beaune is small and easily covered on foot, but if you want to explore a bit outside of town, there`s no better way than by bike. The route of Gran Cruns runs 37 miles from north to south, mostly through the vineyards. A daily bike rental starts at about €18 per day.

By Taxi

Taxis are expensive so they are used less frequently than public transportation. If you are going out at night you will have to use taxis because the buses stop running fairly early. The taxis charge an extra surcharge at night.
