Day 1 in Kuala Lumpur

Welcome to Kuala Lumpur! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the city by taking the free KL Hop-on, hop-off city tour which features 23 stops at more than 70 different attractions throughout the capital city. Hop off at some of the city`s most iconic places including the Petronas Twin Towers, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Petaling Street `Chinatown`, KLCC Park and much more.

Stop for some lunch in `Chinatown` on Petaling Street, which is lined with a wide array of restaurants and hawker-style street food where you can chow down on tasty treats like smoked meat, BBQ pork noodles, rice and steamed buns. After lunch wander the narrow streets around Chinatown and shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs to take home. Or check out Central Market just a short walk from Petaling Street where the Malaysian cultural market is held daily from 10 am until 10 pm, the area is filled with Art galleries, shops, and more food.

Make your way to Sri Mahamariamman Temple which is the oldest Hindu temple in the city, this extravagantly decorated building cannot be missed! The exterior is vibrantly adorned with 228 carvings of Hindu deities depicting famous legends. Inside the working temple is the inner chamber where incense burns and the image of the popular Hindu deity Sri Mahamariamman stands, and monks chant and pray.

Up next is the Sin Sze Ya Temple which is the oldest Chinese temple in the city, the building is beautifully decorated and visitors are provided with a fortune-telling stick when they enter which can be translated (for a small fee RM1) by staff members.

On your first evening in the city, head to another significant landmark, the KL Tower which reaches a height of 1,381 feet above the city on Pineapple Hill surrounded by the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. Head up to the observation deck which circles the whole of the tower for stunning 360-degree panoramic views over the capital city below. Be sure to time it out so that you can capture the sunset from this spectacular location and watch the city light up at night. Enjoy dinner at `Atmosphere 360` which is a revolving restaurant situated in the tower or at the `highest McDonald`s in the world`.

Make your way back to your hotel and get a good night`s rest.

Day 2 in Kuala Lumpur

Begin your second day exploring the spectacular Batu Caves, these stunning limestone caves and temples are set in Gombak and are said to be over 400 million years old. They are some of the most important Hindu shrines outside of India, stand in awe at the giant golden statue of `Lord Muruga` set at the base of the caves, then take the journey up 272 steps to `Temple Cave` which is the main temple that houses several Hindu shrines. If you are an avid rock climber this area is famous for rock climbing with over 160 climbing routes up the 492ft tall limestone hills.

Make your way to the Perdana Botanical Gardens, these beautiful gardens are set in the heart of the city spanning over 227 acres of land featuring the largest collection of flower gardens in the capital city. Stroll around the stunning gardens decorated with fountains and pergolas and visit the Orchid garden with over 800 types of orchids and the Hibiscus Garden which is Malaysia`s national flower. Also featured in the vicinity of the park are the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, The National Monument, The Deer Park, KL Bird Park and the National Planetarium. You can easily spend the entire afternoon exploring all of these fantastic attractions.

As evening approaches head over to Berjaya Times Square in the popular Bukit Bintang neighborhood. This 48-story building is filled with plenty of entertainment for a fun evening. Once inside check out the 13th largest shopping mall in the world spread out over 12 levels! Enjoy some retail therapy or simply window shop and work up an appetite.

Next, head to the 5th through the 8th floor to the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, where visitors will find eateries, rides, shows, and games. Ride the Supersonic Odyssey coast which is the largest indoor coaster in the world, take a safari tour through Fantasy Garden or drive the bumper cars at `Robo Crash`.

The area of Bukit Bintang is a famous nightlife district in the city, check out the bars, clubs, and pubs that fill the vibrant streets with a drink and some dancing.

Day 3 in Kuala Lumpur

Start your day off with a traditional Malayan breakfast and head out for a day of shopping; Kuala Lumpur is a shopper`s paradise with a large collection of malls, markets, and shops that are definitely worth visiting.

Start at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur situated on Jalan Bukit Bintang, this giant mall features high-end shops and international designer labels spread out over 7 stories in six different shopping areas along with quaint boutiques. Check out the `Pavilion Crystal Fountain` at the mall`s entrance where you can toss a coin and make a wish.

Next, stop Suria KLCC a six-story mall located at the base of the Petronas Twin Towers in the heart of the city featuring hundreds of stores that stretch along 3 roads. This popular shopping mecca is often compared to New York`s Fifth Avenue and Tokyo`s Ginza with three sections that include the Ampang Mall, Park Mall and Ramlee Mall with plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment can be found. Some of the stores that occupy this area include Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Marks and Spencer`s and much more. The area around Suria KLCC is a vibrant place filled with street food stalls and entertainment, grab a bite to eat at one of the tasty eateries and enjoy the bustling atmosphere.

Other attractions in this area include the Aquaria KLCC which is an impressive state of the art aquarium covering 60,000 square feet and a 300ft underwater tunnel. Stop in and see the 350 different species of land and marine animals including giant Sand Tiger sharks that swim above you when you in the underwater tunnel.

Alternatively, you can check out the different markets in the area including the famous Petaling Street, a vibrant outdoor shopping district filled with hundreds of stalls selling everything you can imagine at bargain prices. The streets are filled with a wide array of eateries as this area is also known as `Chinatown` where Chinese and seafood restaurants and hawker stalls are in abundance. Another popular market area is the Taman Connaught Night Market which features hundreds of stalls that cover over 1.24 miles where local handicrafts, souvenirs and plenty of delicious local cuisine can be found, the market takes place every Wednesday evening.

After a busy day of shopping head to one of the many spas situated in the capital city, enjoy a relaxing massage or facial and de-stress from your day.

On your last evening in the city wind down with a cold refreshment at one of the many watering holes found in Bukit Bintang. There is plenty to choose from here including Irish pubs, whiskey bars, and clubs, this is the city`s main entertainment district where you enjoy film screenings, stand-up comedy and more! Jalan Alor features a famous collection of roadside restaurants such as seafood restaurants, hawker-style stalls in a charming vibrant atmosphere that is open until the wee hours.

Alternatively, take a cooking class in the city, Malaysians are very passionate about their food, attending a cooking class you will learn how to make Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes with a local family. Most classes offer a 3-course meal that you will prepare and enjoy with help from the experts.

Additional Days in Kuala Lumpur

Should you be able to spend additional days in Kuala Lumpur be sure to make a trip to Genting Highlands which is a resort area nestled in the hillside in Bentong. There is so much to do in the area including a theme park, a casino, shopping, and restaurants. Enjoy a trip into the area on the Genting Skyway which is the longest and fastest gondola ride in the world.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is a premier water park just outside the city covering 80 acres of land with different themed zones such as the Wild Wild West, World of Adventure and the Waters of Africa. Enjoy water slides, wave pools and the popular `Flowrider` surf simulator.

Visit the As Syakirin Mosque situated close to the Suria KLCC shopping center, a large majestic mosque also known as the `Jewel in the Park` as it looks out over the KLCC park area and has a capacity to house up to 12,000 worshipers.

The Thean Hou Temple is one of the oldest and largest temples found in Southeast Asia, a six-tiered Buddhist temple featuring contemporary and traditional architecture and Buddhist images along with a Chinese medicinal herb garden, a tortoise pond, and a sacred Bodhi tree.

Your Last Day in Kuala Lumpur

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
