How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

The main airport servicing Saint-Paul-de-Vence is the Nice International Airport (nice.aeroport.fr), about 16 miles/50 minutes away, depending on traffic. There are a few options for transportation such as buses, taxi, or car rental.

By Bus: Catch the 400 bus from bus stop Aeroport Promenade. The bus leaves every 30 to 45 minutes and takes about an hour. From Terminal 1 it takes about 10 - 15 minutes to walk to the bus stop on the Promenade des Anglais. From Terminal 2, take the free airport shuttle to Terminal 1. It will then take about 10 or 15 minutes to walk to the bus stop called Aeroport Promenade. A bus ticket will cost around €1.50 and tickets can be purchased onboard.

By Car: One of the most convenient ways to get around the Riviera is by car. All of France and Europe`s major car rental companies have branches at Nice Airport. To reach Saint-Paul-de-Vence from Nice, take the A8 motorway to exit 48 and follow signs to La Colle sur Loup on Rte 436.

There are several public car parks near the village: route des Serres, chemin des Gardettes, route de Vence, montee des Trious. Cost of metered parking in Saint-Paul-de-Vence is about €1 for 50 minutes; €4 for half a day; €6 for a full day. Public car parks are free after 7 pm.

An Uber (www.uber.com) is a much better option from the airport. No cash exchanges hands, all driver`s info is on your phone, and the drivers are known to be friendly and professional. You can also opt for Uber`s upgraded higher priced service, the Uber Black Car, which works the same but your driver will be in a suit and tie while driving a luxury sedan.

How do I get there by train?

The nearest train station is Cagnes Sur Mer (TER line 4). From the Cagnes Sur Mer train station, you will need take the bus #400 to Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Is Saint-Paul-de-Vence a walking city?

St Paul is a walking city; in fact, it is the only way to get around the pedestrianized Old Town. The streets are narrow with little shady squares, ancient fountains, and gateways making it a very charming town to walk in.

How do I get around by bike?

You will not want to bike around the Old Town but there are some great bike trails that have been designed especially for holidaying cyclists. These `discovery` trails will take you through spectacular landscapes with plenty of gastronomy, geography and history to enjoy.

Is Saint-Paul-de-Vence a dangerous city?

With influences from the Mediterranean Sea, its warm and sunny climate, and proximity to Italy, the offerings include lots of fresh fish, vegetables, and herbs, along with Italian favorites such as pizza and gelato. What sets Nicoise cuisine apart from traditional French fare is the use of olive oil rather than butter. In fact, the use of olive oil in the French Riviera cuisine is reflected by the fact this region is one of the main suppliers of olive oil in France and a staple in the Mediterranean diet.

Remember the main meal is at lunch time so do as the French do and have your main meal between 12 and 2 pm. Meals between 2 and 6 pm are usually not available unless you`re in a major tourist spot.

The pedestrian-only rue Grande that runs the length of town offers many places to shop from antiques, arts and crafts galleries to souvenir and gift shops. You`ll also want to check out the winding streets that branch off of rue Grand. St Paul is known for their art galleries and artwork and while here, you`ll be sure to find artwork to fit any budget. As an artists` village, it`s also the place for more affordable crafts.The costume jewelry on sale at many of the shops is affordable and unique. You`ll also find Provencal fabrics on sale, as well as local gourmet delicacies like olive oils, wine and fruit liquors.
