Picasso Museum

The 14th-century Château Grimaldi, once a former castle, was Picasso`s studio and home from July to December 1946. The Picasso museum now houses an excellent collection of his works donated by Picasso himself, and after his death, by his wife. The compilation of his work consists of lithographs, paintings, drawings and ceramics, as well as a number of fascinating photos of Picasso. The museum also houses works by other contemporary artists like Léger, Miró, Ernst and Calder. You can visit this museum every day except Monday, from about 10 am to 6 pm. The museum closes for a two-hour lunch break from noon to 2 pm (except for the summer months).

Fort Carré

The 16th-century Fort Carré built upon Roman ruins, a beautiful place to discover with exciting history and magnificent views of the harbor. Napoleon was for a time imprisoned here during the French Revolution and the fort also served as a border defense post until 1860, when Nice became French the latter half of the 19th-century. More recently, it was used in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again. Tours depart half-hourly; they do offer some English speaking tours.

Marché Provençal

Known to be one of the best markets along the Cote d`Azur, selling everything from seasonal vegetables, fruits, meat, cheese and local products, all housed under a cast-iron roof at Massena course. The market is open regularly from Tuesday to Sunday, but also on Mondays in July and August, and on Sundays, you can buy goods from local artisans.

Jardin Botanique de la Villa Thuret

The Jardin botanique de la Villa Thuret, located in the center of Capd`Antibes, is a renowned botanical garden created in 1856. The gardens showcase over 2,500 species giving the perfect opportunity to study the sun-rich cape`s lush and exotic flora up close.

Jazz à Juan

Jazz à Juan is the oldest jazz festival on the continent that has been running for more than 50 years. The festival offers all the biggest names in Jazz on the Riviera`s most stunning sunset sea-view stage, taking place every year in July. In addition to the headliners, the festival provides a venue for talented newcomers. Musical performances cover an array of styles from Cool Jazz and New Orleans Jazz to Gospel, Blues, Swing and Electro-Jazz.

Cathédrale d`Antibes

Antibes Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Church and national monument built on the site of an ancient Greek temple. Destroyed by the barbarians in 1124, the church was rebuilt in the early 13th-century. The church has undergone many transformations over the centuries, and today, the impressive Italian-style façade still stands tall. The interior is just as impressive with some masterpieces from the Renaissance and Modern times.

Jean Cocteau Museum

The museum was established in 2011 after the Cocteau expert Severin Wunderman had donated his multimillion-dollar collection of the artist`s works to the city. Over 1,800 pieces are on display of Cocteau`s career and work in all kinds of formats such as graphic art, film, poetry, ceramics, sculptures and photographs, mostly taken while he was shooting the Testament of Orpheus.

Bastion Museum

Jean Cocteau, a painter and poet, created his very own museum in the `Bastion` (a fort built in the 17th-century). He restored the building himself, decorating the alcoves, walls, and floors with pebble mosaics in order to convert it into an exhibition place for his work. The works on display change regularly. Admission includes entry to the Musee Jean Cocteau. The museum is open all year round, it is closed on Tuesdays and holidays.

Basilica St. Michel

The church proudly stands on the top of a hill in old town, a stunning building dating back from the 17th-century. Just looking at the buildings of the baroque church you`ll notice the Italian influence with its beautiful ornate architecture and an equally impressive interior. The Basilica allows for sightseeing, some interesting art work, and magnificent views. A trip to the Bascilica is best made first thing in the morning before things start to warm up, as you have to hike up a series of winding stairways from Promenade de la Mer.

Marché des Halles

The Marche des Halles is a beautiful historic building that houses a spectacular covered food market full of fresh produce of the French Riviera: Fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, dairy, bakery products and seafood. Many vendors offer samples of their selections and most will speak English, Italian, and French.

Le Chateau de Villeneuve-Loubet

Built in the 13th-century, the castle of Villeneuve and its beautiful park are located at the top of the hill of Villeneuve-Loubet village, at the end of the Cornich Notre-Dame. Ramparts and footpaths are sprawled around five round towers, and a medieval drawbridge. Frances I stayed here in 1538 to sign the Truce of Nice with Charles V, a pact that put an end to the Italian wars.

Villa Kérylos

Located on the rocky tip of the Baie des Fourmis in Beauliue-sur Mer, the 20th-century Villa Kerylos is a detailed recreation of the luxurious Greek Villa from the 2nd-century BC. The villa will take you on a fascinating journey in time with beautiful rooms of mosaics, marble paneled walls and decorations of the time. The villa is also used as a center for various musical and theatrical events during the year.

Massif del`Esterel

The Massifde l`Esterel is a Mediterranean coastal mountain range in the the Var department of Provence between Saint Raphael and Theoule sur Mer. The hills, cliffs and mountains that represent the massif rise steeply and offer far reaching views. These mountain ranges are the most stunning natural feature of the entire Cote d`Azur and a magnificent region to explore. There are several marked trails for hikers and off road cycling in the Massif l`Esterel and these are the best ways to explore the region.
