BELGRADE - HOTEL ZONES
City Center (Stari Grad)
The Old Town (Stari Grad) or the historic center of Belgrade, offers culture, history, and a lively city life. This beautiful district is home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Kalemegdan Fortress, Republic Square, and the National Museum, all within walking distance along the pedestrian-friendly Knez Mihailova Street. Stari Grad offers a mix of traditional charm and modern conveniences, with charming cobblestone streets, several cafes, excellent restaurants, and an active nightlife scene, particularly in the bohemian Skadarlija area. The area also features green spaces like Kalemegdan Park, offering views of the Danube and Sava rivers. While it can get crowded and parking is limited, the convenience and cultural atmosphere make it one of the best places to stay in Belgrade.
Andricev Venac - Palilula
Located within the Stari Grad municipality, Andricev Venac is a culturally rich area and very centrally located. The area has some pedestrian streets and is characterized by its elegant architecture, with the New Palace, the official residence of the President of Serbia, serving as a prominent landmark.
Palilula lies just to the east of Stari Grad (Old Town) and is easily walkable from Andricev Venac, and both areas are well-connected by public transportation. The Palilula area is one of Belgrade’s largest and most diverse municipalities, encompassing both urban and suburban areas. It offers a mix of historical significance and modern development, with landmarks such as the University of Belgrade's Technical Faculties, the Radio Television of Serbia building, and various parks and recreational areas. The municipality's diverse character is reflected in its blend of architectural styles, green spaces, and cultural institutions, offering visitors a unique experience of Belgrade's urban life.
New Belgrade
Built after World War II, the neighborhood of New Belgrade is a contrast to the historic heart of Belgrade. Located across the Sava River and the Old Town, the cultural landmarks such as Kalemegdan Fortress or Skadarlija require a bit more travel. The area is known for its green spaces and wide boulevards and serves as the city’s central business district. It features modern infrastructure and offers a range of accommodations, as well as major shopping malls, and a wide selection of restaurants and cafes. Staying in New Belgrade does not offer the charm of the historic district or cultural activities, but it does offer accessibility to modern conveniences and easy access to public transportation.
Outskirts
Staying on the outskirts offers a more suburban and semi-rural area. Popular outskirts include places like Zemun (though technically part of the city, it has a more town-like feel), Banovo Brdo, Avala (near the mountain and famous tower), and even countryside areas south of the city like Grocka or Barajevo. These locations are particularly attractive to nature lovers, digital nomads, or those wanting a retreat while still being within reach of central Belgrade by car or bus. .
