KUTAISI - HOTEL ZONES

Balakhvani

The riverside neighborhood of Balakhani is located close to the heart of the city. Situated along the Rioni River, just south of the Old Town and about a 15-minute walk from the Colchis Fountain. This area is known for its pastel-colored Stalinist-era apartment blocks and residential feel. It offers several dining options and accommodations to choose from. The location is convenient for exploring, as it is within walking distance of Kutaisi’s main attractions, such as the green Bazaar and the city’s museums, and close to the railway station for easy transit. Although nightlife is more concentrated in the city center, Balakhvani’s charm lies in its quieter, more local feel. It’s an ideal choice for travelers who want a tranquil base with easy access to everything Kutaisi has to offer.

Bzholebi

The Bzholebi neighborhood offers a blend of local charm and convenience. It is located just across the Rioni River from the Old town, making it easily accessible via the Red or White Bridge and within walking distance of landmarks like the Colchis Fountain and Bagrati Cathedral. The neighborhood has a lively, vibrant atmosphere, with Tabidze Street standing out for its popular restaurants and bars. While the area is bustling and energetic, ongoing construction, particularly along Tabidze Street, can sometimes result in noise disturbances. Overall, the neighborhood is within great proximity to attractions, and it has an excellent dining and nightlife scene, and a wide range of lodging options.

Old Town

The charming Old Town of Kutaisi blends history, culture, and local life. The area offers cobblestone streets, 19th-century architecture, and landmarks like the Colchis Fountain and White Bridge. Visitors can explore nearby attractions such as Bagrati Cathedral and the Kutaisi State Historical Museum. The Old Town is also home to various accommodations and several dining options, with local eateries serving traditional Georgian cuisine. The neighborhood's walkability and proximity to cultural sites make it an ideal base.

Sapichkhia

Situated on the southeast side of the Old Town, the Sapichkhia neighborhood offers a more residential, authentic experience. The area offers peaceful, pleasant green spaces and plenty of conveniences such as supermarkets and other amenities. Sapichkhia is about 20 minutes from the Colchis Fountain, the city’s central landmark, and is serviced by regular buses to the city center.

Outskirts

Staying in the outskirts of Kutaisi offers a completely different experience. The outskirts are generally more peaceful and rural with open landscapes, small villages, and traditional Georgian homes surrounded by gardens, orchards, and rolling hills. While public transportation into the city is available, it may be less frequent, so having a rental car can be helpful for flexibility. The countryside around Kutaisi also places you closer to major attractions like the Gelati Monastery, Motsameta Monastery, and natural sites like the Sataplia Nature Reserve and Prometheus Cave. However, staying in the outskirts means fewer dining options and less nightlife compared to the city center.
