GIBRALTAR - HOTEL ZONES
Gibraltar Center
The center of Gibraltar offers a blend of British charm and Mediterranean flair, all within walking distance of the territory’s most iconic sights. The heart of Gibraltar is compact, bustling, and surprisingly cosmopolitan, centered around Main Street, a pedestrian-friendly area lined with colonial-era buildings, duty-free shops, British pubs, cafes, and local boutiques. The area is easy to get around on foot and it is minutes from attractions like the Gibraltar Cable Car, the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and the lively Casemates Square, with popular places for dining and people watching.
La Linea (Spain - North of the Border)
La Linea de la Concepcion, just north of the Gibraltar border, is great for exploring Gibraltar while avoiding its higher prices. The town is on the Spanish border, rich in everyday Andalusian life. You’ll find plenty of small tapas bars, local cafes, and a bustling plaza where residents gather in the evenings. It has a bit of a run-down vibe, however, the area is generally safe and welcoming.
One of the biggest draws to La Línea is it proximity to Gibraltar. The border is easily walkable, often taking about 10 to 15 minutes to cross, though you’ll need your passport. Many travelers choose to stay in one of the hotels near the border, for the convenience of walking across. La Línea also offers its own beaches with views of the Rock rising in the background.
Northeast Gibraltar
Staying in the Northeast area of Gibraltar, particularly near Eastern Beach, offers proximity to key landmarks with a more low-key atmosphere. This region is adjacent to Gibraltar International Airport, providing convenient access for travelers. Eastern Beach, the largest in Gibraltar, is renowned for its views of the iconic Rock. Staying in this area allows for easy exploration of the natural beauty of the beaches and also the cultural attractions of the town center.
