HOW TO TIP IN ANDORRA

In the U.S. tipping is customary and expected for everything from lackluster to outstanding service. It is an etiquette which is ingrained in all trades, from the wait staff at restaurants to our baristas, valets, cab drivers, porters, and many more trades. In Europe tipping is not as habitual and the same goes for Andorra. There is no obligation to do so, however, leaving something extra is customary. The questions `when?` and `how much?` can leave some travelers confused, as the practice varies. This guide attempts to cover most situations that you, as a tourist, will encounter. Hopefully using these `tips` will provide a smooth experience when interacting with locals in restaurants, bars, hotels, tour operators, and taxis.

Currency: Can I pay in U.S. dollars, or should I use Euro?

Hotel Staff: Who should I tip?

Tipping Porter/Bellhop is typically around €1-2 per bag.

Housekeeping is not expected, but options of around €1-2 per day.

Taxi Drivers: Should I tip?

Tipping a taxi driver isn't expected or custom in Andorra, however, rounding up to the nearest Euro is appreciated.

Tour Guides: Should I tip?

Tipping a tour guide is always appreciated. We suggest around €5-10 per person.

Overview

Tipping in Andorra is entirely optional, though a small tip (around 5-10%) is appreciated for good service, especially at restaurants and bars. Be aware that service charges may already be added to your check. Also, Waiting for your bill to be presented is good etiquette rather than asking for it immediately after finishing your meal.
