CHEFCHAOUEN - GETTING AROUND
Chefchaouen is a small town that is best explored on foot, especially within the medina, which is pedestrian-only. Keep in mind that stairs and hills are not necessarily everywhere in Chefchaouen, but considering the town is surrounded by hills, slight changes in elevation are bound to occur, so be ready for it because it can happen at any point on your journey.
By petit taxiLike in other Moroccan cities, paying per ride with a petit taxi is the most common way to get around in Chefchaouen. Like the beautiful architecture, petits taxis in Chefchaouen are colored blue, and fares within the city limits should not cost more than 100 dirhams ($10). It is helpful to agree on the price before departing. Remember, the medina is pedestrian-only so you cannot get door-to-door service here.
By bicycleChefchaouen, while celebrated for its scenic beauty and unique blue-washed buildings, does not specifically promote itself as a bicycle-friendly city, especially for visitors. The town's hilly terrain and narrow, often cobbled streets can make cycling challenging. Additionally, the pedestrian-focused design of the medina, which is the main tourist attraction, is not conducive to bicycling.
