OUARZAZATE NEIGHBORHOODS
City Center
Ouarzazate's city center, extending from the vibrant Souk de Dimanche to the historic Taourirt Kasbah, offers a mix of 3 and 4-star accommodations. These hotels are well-suited for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the local culture and history. The City Center is bustling with activity, providing ample shopping opportunities, especially at the souk where visitors can find everything from traditional Berber carpets to local crafts, although, as I noted before, we recommend visiting the shops around the Kasbah first. Speaking of, the Taourirt Kasbah is a beautifully preserved fortress and is a must-visit for anyone coming to town. Dining options in the city center cater to a variety of tastes with a focus on Moroccan cuisine, allowing tourists to explore the rich flavors of the region in restaurants and street food stalls.
Outskirts
The outskirts of Ouarzazate are noted for their tranquil and scenic settings, where several 4 and 5-star accommodations are located. The outskirts are for people who want relaxation and also a deep cultural experience. One notable attraction in this area is the Tifoultoute Kasbah, a historic fortress located a few miles west of the city center. This kasbah adds a touch of historical significance and offers a picturesque backdrop for those staying in the outskirts. As far as shopping is concerned, you can pick up some high-quality local crafts as souvenirs outside town, including Berber carpets and traditional pottery.
