City Center
Lagos Island or “The Island” is the area of Lagos that is separated from the “Mainland” by the main channel draining the lagoon into the Atlantic Ocean. The Island is mainly a collection of islands that are separated by creeks and connected by bridges. The island contains a central business district or CBD characterized by soaring rises housing hotels, upscale residences, businesses, restaurants, and more. Ikoyi and Victoria Islands are two major luxurious residential island neighborhoods. The island also contains the city’s largest wholesale marketplaces Idumota and Balogun Markets. Also home to the National Museum of Nigeria, the Central Mosque, the Glover Memorial Hall, Christ’s Church Cathedral, and the Oba’s Palace. One major part of Lagos Island is its Marina which houses some of the major banking institutions> Tinubu Square is a site of historical importance, where the Amalgamation Ceremony unified the North and South protectorate to form Nigeria took place in 1914. Airport Area
The airport area is located around 14 miles away from the city center, making it a convenient place to stay for transportation reasons, it is easy to access the city center and the rest of the Lagos region when staying here. Staying by the airport gets you away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and allows you to connect with other parts of the city.
