City Center

Osu is located in the heart of the city of Accra, the city center has a younger population with a vibrant nightlife, and everything here is within walking distance. There are plenty of accommodations in the city center with hotels, and other options located close to the major attractions. The downtown area has everything from hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, hospitals, transportation, and street food vendors, there is plenty to see and do. One of the main sites to see in this area of the city is the Osu Castle a historic site, there are some great night markets held here, as well as endless food options and entertainment found on Oxford Street, which is the street that never sleeps.

The city center is where most of the locals live, a great area to experience the culture and local festivities such as the Homowo festival that is held every year in August. Central Accra includes the CBD, which consists of the historic districts of Usshertown, Tudu, Victoriaborg, West Ridge, and East Ridge, as well as the historic districts of Jamestown, Adabraka, Asylum Down, North Ridge, and Christiansborg/Osu. The Airport city is a satellite business district, these have been established across the city, Central Accra remains the administrative and cultural center of the city. There are many government buildings, businesses, and financial institutions here as well. The principal attractions in downtown Accras are the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the National Museum, Independence Square, the National Theatre, and the Ohene Djan Stadium. The accommodations in the city center have something to offer every budget there are luxury hotels, and affordable guesthouses and hostels, providing visitors with plenty of options for where to stay.
