City Center

The city center of Maputo consists of a couple of different areas that we will highlight below:

Baixa - this is a busy commercial area where you'll find the old railway station along with many of the city's markets.

Sommerschield is a popular neighborhood in the heart of modern Maputo, where you'll find the Polana Shopping Center along with historic landmarks like the Polana Serena Hotel. This is considered the best residential neighborhood in Maputo.

Alto Ma is an area where you'll find many restaurant and nightlife options, along with attractions like the 1975 Museum of the Revolution.

Accommodations in Maputo are not cheap, but there are several factors to consider before deciding where to stay. Be sure to think about the proximity to the points you want to visit. Opting for cheaper but farther accommodations does not always mean savings. Be sure to consider the money you will spend on transport to visit each place in the city.
