Vermont's attractive town of Stowe is situated in a lush valley between the impressive Worcester Range to the east and the picturesque Mount Mansfield and numerous other peaks of the Green Mountains to the west. Salem, Massachusetts

Bearing a morbid history connected to the most well-known witch trials in the world, the city of Salem, MA has been through considerable suffering. The Salem Witch Trials remain one of the most talked about events in American history. These citizens were charged and convicted of being a witch, which ultimately led to death.

When you talk about haunted cities to visit, Salem almost always comes up on the list. Its many stories, which stretch from being consumed by mass hysteria during the Salem Witch Trials to being overrun by pirates who used the city's underground tunnels as smuggling zones, inspired various ghostly stories. Many people believe that the dark forces at play during this era have left a permanent mark on the town of Salem. During the month of October Salem offers the largest celebration of Halloween in the world. Boston, Massachuesetts

With so much history marked by violence, tragedy, and death, Boston is known as one of the most haunted cities in America. Even before it was officially incorporated as a colony in 1630, the historical turmoil of Boston turned it into a prime location for ghost stories. It seems like you can't walk a full city block without coming across another location which is said to be haunted.

Kennebunkport, Maine

In Maine, there are stories of souls that spirit century-old inns and lurk in the lighthouses intended to keep us safe. Many of the historic homes along the coast of Kennebunkport are thought to have ghosts - lost ship captains, heartbroken windows, and tragic characters not prepared to part from our earthly existence. Sleep in a historic inn and await your paranormal visitor. Or walk the dark halls and sense the haunting. The Kennebunk Inn has at least one, maybe two ghosts rumored to be the owner and clerk from several decades gone by.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

The city of Portsmouth, which goes back to the 1600s, has a lot of history, and with all that history comes stories of the supernatural. The city has many old, haunted houses, haunted streets, and graveyards, too. The Point of Graves burial ground is one of those sites. It goes back to the 1600s and features some ornate gravestones. Some of Portsmouth’s old theaters are also known to be haunted, such as the Player’s Ring Theater.
