City Center

The charming city of Grenoble offers a wealth to explore, and staying in the city center puts you in a perfect location to do so. Grenoble is divided by the Isère River. The historic quarters offers café-lined streets and world-class galleries, along with beautiful architecture. You will also be walking distance to the River Isere and to catch the cable car on its peripheral which brings you above the city to La Bastille hill. Come nightfall there is a vibrant bar and pub scene, too, that is within walking distance to the city center.

The best places to stay in Grenoble city center are close the Grenoble Train Station (Gare de Grenoble) and in the city center (old town), close to the Victor Hugo Square (Place Victor Hugo) and Grenette Square (Place Grenette).

Outskirts

There are also plenty of resort-like properties just outside of Grenoble in beautiful pastoral surroundings. It is great to stay in the outskirts which allow easy access to exploring other bordering small towns. It can be nice being a little distance out from the hustle and bustle of the old town. If you do stay further out of the city you will want to check out transportation options.
