MILOS ISLAND - GETTING AROUND

By Car, Motorcycle or ATV

There are a number of car and motorcycle, or ATV rental agencies and given that Milos is a rather large island, renting a 4-wheeler or car is recommended. Having your own vehicle will allow you to explore at your own pace and to gain access to the more secluded spots.

Keep in mind that the driving conditions are different on Milos. Main roads are clustered around the main villages and beaches on the norther side, and aside from a few roads hitting the mia spots on the rest of the island, many roads are unkempt. Some roads in Milos can be extremely tiny, so it can take some getting used to. ATVs on Milos definitely reach farther than a car can take you and are better suited for anything outside the main attractions. Also, we recommend getting a real map of the island, google maps will sometimes take you down dirt roads and dead ends.

By Bus

The local buses are an inexpensive (about €2 per trip) and easy way to get around Milos and can take you to many of the top destinations around the island. There are daily and frequent itineraries to reach all the central spots of the island.

The central bus station is located in Adamas. There are also bus terminals in Achivadolimni, Palaiochori, Plaka, Pollonia, Provatas, Sarakiniko, Triovasalos and Trypiti. You can get more information about routes and timetables on www.milosbuses.com.

They are more expensive than a bus, but they are the best option if you want to reach your destination easily and fast, especially when you need to carry your heavy luggage. Costs are reasonable, especially if leaving from a hub. HOwever, if you need to hail a cab to come and get you from a specific location, you may incur extra charges. Something to keep in mind if you want to go off the beaten path, most taxis won't go on the dirt roads, which make up a considerable portion of the Western side of the island. Milos has arguably the biggest network of dirt roads out of all the Cycladic Islands.
