Bussang
Bussang, located southeast of the Vosges department, occupies the upper valley of the Moselle. The village is surrounded by mountains covered with lush forests of fir and beech. Surrounded by natural beauty, the town offers plenty to do for outdoor recreation such as archery, mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, cross-country skiing, and fishing. Cultural activities include Theatre du Peuple, Chevrerie de la Moselle, Source Marie, Rando Ferrata Source de la Moselle, and Eglise Sainte Barbe.
Epinal
Located on the Moselle River in the foothills of the Vosges, Epinal is a historic town noted for its printing pedigree: These are workshops here that mass produced boldly colored prints, popular illustrations, and hand-colored stencils since 1735. You’ll have a rare chance to see these old techniques in action at the Imagerie d’Epinal and browse a huge library of prints at the Musee de l’Image. Just 4 miles southwest of the city is the Epinal American War Cemetery which contains over 5,000 American servicemen and women who died in WWII.
Make sure to visit Old Epinal on foot to wander the arcaded squares, old defensive walls, and the striking ruins of a medieval castle at the top of the town. A 20 minute drive outside the city is the Vosges Regional Park, perfect for outdoor adventure, and the action-packed Fraispertuis-City theme park is great for kids and adults young at heart.
Plombieres-les-Bains
Spa of the Grand Est region, Plombieres-les-Bains is located in the Vosges department, in the historic old Lorraine. Nicknamed the City of a thousand balconies, tourists flock hear to admire the homogeneous and very well preserved architecture testifying to the golden age of the city. Remiremont
Remiremon, located at the junction of the valleys of the moselle and Moselotte, is a town rich with heritage that has atypical buildings from the Chapter of Noble Ladies of Remiremont. The town is named after St. Romantic, a companion of St. Columban at Luxeuil, who in the 7th-century founded a monastery and a convent on the hills above the present town. Former Benedictine abbey of Vosges, Abbey Remiremont is an ancient principality of the Holy Roman Empire Germanic today listed building. Founded in the seventh century by St. Ame, before beginning to accommodate a female community in the ninth century. Over the centuries, the abbey of Remiremont has developed wonderfully, gaining a wealth that offered him power and prestige throughout Europe. Closed in the 18th-century under the rule of the French Revolution, the building is now a top tourist attraction. Discover the abbey including its various chapels of the 11th-century, the church of the 13th-century or the palace of the 18th-century. Vittel
Vittel is situated in the Vosges department and Grand-Est region. In 1854, after visiting the baths at nearby Contrexeville, lawyer Louis Bouloumie purchased the Fontaine de Geremoy, site of the modern-day town of Vittel. Two years later, Bouloumie built a pavilion from which developed the grand, luxurious architecture that characterizes the site. The town was also a recognized spa and resort that has retained its prestigious past of splendid hotels of the early 20th century, famous for bottling and exporting its waters. Mineral water is bottled and sold here by Nestle Waters France, under the Vittel brand.
