ALSACE LORRAINE - GETTING AROUND

By Car

Having a car in the Alsace Lorraine region is definitely an advantage. The Alsace has an efficient motorway system making traveling by car very convenient. The A35 motorway crosses Alsace from north to south, a distance that can be driven in under 2 hours. Having a car is also great to discover the smaller charming villages, the Alsace Wine Route or the Peak Route. It’s the ultimate in scenic driving!

By Bus

The two main bus companies are Transdev Grand Est, based in Nancy, and Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois, based in Strasbourg. Nancy, Strasbourg, and Colmar all have civic transit systems, too.

Coaches, synchronized with the train schedules, also provide connections to cities and villages. You can take your bike with you on the train for free, except between Strasbourg and Basel during rush hour.
