City Center

The medieval town of Chinon is located in the Center - Val de Loire region of France, resting by the banks of the majestic Vienne river just before it meets the mighty Loire. It is a town steeped in history and rich with culture. The streets of the city center are lined with small shops, inns, and cafes. Many of the hotels offered in the city center are on the streets of the medieval center, or an easy 5-10 minute walk to the city center itself, as well as the bus station. This is a great option to make it easy to explore the area.

Outskirts

Chinon commune is located in the Touraine, which is known as the ``garden of France.” Most of the hotels located in the outskirts of Chinon are within a fairly easy walking distance (10-15 minutes), or a brief car ride. In the countryside around Chinon, there is a great deal to discover. Among these are Fontevraud Abbey, the Azay-le-Rideau Chateau and the picturesque village of Candes-Saint-Martin, classified as one of the 'most beautiful villages in France.’
