How do I get to Mamaia?

The main airport near Mamaia is in Constanta, Mihail Kogalniceanu International Airport located around 8 miles north of the coastal town.

If you have not booked a private transfer through us then you have a few options to reach the city from the airport including car rental, buses, and taxis.

Visitors can take a train from Bucharest to Constanta and then take the bus to Mamaia, the train ride takes around 3 hours and bus #100 takes you to Mamaia.

How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

The airport has a wide selection of rental car companies, buses, and taxis are also available at the airport to connect to the resort town of Mamaia.

How do I get around by train in Mamaia?

There is no train station in Mamaia, but travelers can catch a train into the nearby city of Constanta and have several bus options that travel to Mamaia.

How do I get from the bus station to my hotel?

There are several options for buses to connect to Mamaia. Buses 23E and 47 both run to and from the north end of the Mamaia strip. There are maxi taxis and minibusses that run to Mamia from Constanta.

How do I get around the city using public transportation?

During the summer months, line #100 of the Constanta public transport network runs to Mamaia from the station, from mid-June to mid-September. The City Tour bus passes through all the tourist attractions in Constanta and Mamaia. During the summertime the Telegondola cable car offers a fun way to see the city, traveling from the southern parts of Mamaia to the city center with excellent views. There are buses that run up and down the main boulevard.

The cable car allows passengers to fly over the resort, between the Hotel Perla, at the very south, and the casino, the 2-kilometer trip takes 7-8 minutes. The cable car crosses half of the Mamaia Resort from the southern entrance until after the Casino Square, tickets cost around 5 RON and it can be busy during the summer. (The Cable Car only runs from May to late September).

Should I rent a car in Mamaia?

Renting a car when visiting Mamaia is a good idea and allows visitors to drive from Constanta airport to the resort town. There is a small toll for cars to enter the Mamaia Resort.

Walking around Mamaia is a great way to get acquainted with resort town, nicknamed the “Pearl of the Black Sea”. The resort town stretches along a thin strip of land between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol, the beach here stretches for just under 5 miles and is renowned for its extremely fine sand. There are many great restaurants, bars, shops, and more nestled along Mamaia’s waterfront, walks along the promenade and Mamaia boulevard allows visitors to check out the sights and surroundings.

Can I ride a bike in Mamaia?

Riding a bicycle in the resort town of Mamaia is possible, there may be some hotels, resorts, or other accommodations with bicycles available to rent. Many of the routes through the town will allow riders to see fabulous sights of the beach and sea.

Is Mamaia a dangerous city, is there anything I should be aware of?

Mamaia is a very safe place to visit, with a low crime in the city and rarely directed towards foreigners. Petty theft, crimes, and certain scams do exist, but no different to any other major city. Practice safe street smarts when out exploring and keep your valuables close when in crowded areas. Pick Pockets are especially common on public transportation. Don’t wander into unlit areas at night, stick to the crowded streets and take a taxi from your destination back to your hotel to stay safe.

What is the best time to visit Mamaia?

Mamaia features a humid continental climate with warm summers and cool mild winters with some frost. Beach season in Mamaia begins on the 1st of May and ends on September 1st with daily average temperatures range from the mid-’80s to the low 90’s. August is one of the hottest and most popular months of the year with many accommodations sold out or with very high prices, beaches are busy and the weather is perfect, hot days, and mild evening temperatures. Many hotels and restaurants close for the winter, however, some places will still advertise accommodation and will offer great deals on the off seasons months.
