Outside the walls, there are lots of gorgeous sights to see as well: The Canal du Midi, a set of waterways built in the 1600s to connect the Atlantic and Mediterranean runs right through town. Visitors also will come across the Chateau Comtal, Lac de la Cavayere, Carcassonne Cathedral, Le Musee de la Torture de Carcassone and Fountain of Neptune, which are all reachable by a few minutes driving. The hotel is about 1.3 miles from the train station (Gare de Carcassonne), 3.3 miles from Carcassonne Airport and 96 miles from Montpellier-Mediterranee Airport. Use of rental car recommended.
