There are multiple archaeological finds which date back to the time of the Thracians and the Ancient Greeks, who knew this city as Apollonia. Today people come to Sozopol for its history, for its resorts and beaches, and for its cultural events such as the Apollonia Festival of Arts held at the end of each summer.
