Apeldoorn is located in the province of Gelderland in the center of Netherlands. As a municipality, the city includes the smaller villages of Beekbergen, Hoenderloo and Loenen. Apeldoorn is known as the favorite country-seat of the royal family of the Netherlands called the palace Het Loo, which reflects the historical ties between the House of Orange-Nassau and the Netherlands. Today, it serves as one of the major employment centers in the eastern Netherlands with around 95k people working here.
