Cities in The Veneto

With its historic buildings and gorgeous canals, Venice is one of Italy`s most famous attractions. This floating city consists of a group of 117 small islands separated by a network of canals and linked by a series of bridges. Spend your days strolling the canals admiring the city`s beautiful squares and buildings, visiting the world-class museums and incredible churches, all while indulging on delectable Venetian cuisine.

The city of Verona rivals Venice in terms of magic and romance. Visitors turn here in numbers, making this town the most visited of the province after Venice. Aside from Romeo and Juliet's strong pull, Verona is a charming medieval and Renaissance city, with numerous medieval palazzi, churches, towers, and centuries-old piazzas.

Padua, or Padova in Italian, is one of our favorite small cities to visit, and it's close enough to Venice to make day trips there. Between Venice and Padua is the Riviera del Brenta, where lots of rich folks congregated in the 16th through 18th centuries to build opulent summer residences along the Brenta river: The Venetian Villas.

Circled by a town wall and waterways, Treviso is the ideal place for a relaxing walk, under the arcaded walkways, or looking up to the fragments of painted frescoes that once decorated Treviso`s houses. An elegant and refined city in Veneto, it is always an unforgettable destination for visitors who are lucky enough to experience its fantastic artistic heritage and the beauty of the Sile River.

Vicenza was the hometown of the famous Renaissance architect Palladio and 23 of the city's buildings were designed by him, including Palazzo Barbaran da Porto that houses the Palladio museum.

WHY THE VENETO?

The Veneto is a stunning region situated in the northeast corner of Italy. Bound on the west by Lake Garda, on the north by the Dolomite Mountains and on the east by the Adriatic Sea, the landscape of the Veneto is rich and diverse. From the grandeur of crumbly old Venice to the medieval flavor of Bassano del Grappa, and on to Belluno, a striking town that's a gateway for visiting the Dolomites, the Veneto makes a fascinating region to discover.
