Skiing in Europe

Orientation
Top Ski Countries
France
Top place among legendary ski destinations goes to the Alps, the majestic mountain range that divides Europe in a curving line from Austria to France. Some of the most iconic and best ski resorts in the world lie on the north-facing slopes of these peaks, in the French Savoie.
Austria
Austria's ski scene exudes an old-world charm, with trail and lift networks linking small Alpine villages surrounded by spectacular snow-covered peaks. Come here for pristine pistes, top-notch resorts, world-class ski schools, and optimal snow conditions, all amongst some of the most stunning mountains and scenery in the world.
Italy
Italy's extensive mountainous land borders are with Switzerland and Austria to the north, plus France to the west. The Alps run in a long semicircle along Italy’s northern frontier. The regions of Lombardia (Lombardy), Piemonte (Piedmont), Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Valle d'Aosta, and in the far east Veneto encapsulate the major Italian Alps & Dolomites ski areas, providing an amazing diversity of ski and snowboard destinations.
Switzerland
Switzerland is practically synonymous with the swish of skis. As the first place in Europe to develop winter tourism, the country's skiing tradition is legendary. A long ski season, terrific snow conditions, and large, well-developed resort areas make Switzerland a bucket-list destination for skiers from around the world.
Sweden
Sweden is home to some of the most vibrant, welcoming and enchanting ski resorts in Europe. They might not have the glitz and glamour of Courchevel, but they’re charming in their own uniquely Swedish way.
Other Winter Experiences

Northern Europe is the geographic region comprised of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It is one of the most progressive regions in Europe and is considered to be the happiest place in the world, home of stunning fjords, a chill-out culture and historically significant monuments.

The Northern Lights, also called Aurora Borealis, can only be seen in the northern hemisphere and is strongest above the Arctic Circle. There are many places to catch a glimpse of these Aurora Borealis - such as the northern countries of Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, and Scotland.

The mystery and beauty of the Alps has long captivated travelers with its snow-capped peaks, aquamarine lakes and charming hamlets. There are several countries that span the Alps, including Austria, France and Germany, but the most famous of the Alpine countries is of course Switzerland.
Experiences & Adventure
UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Europe
Europe contains some of the most fascinating, historic UNESCO World Heritage sites in the world with significant ones like the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, Mont-Saint Michel in France, and The Buda Castle Quarter and Andrassy Avenue in Budapest. There are over 400 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Europe alone, and at least one can be found in every country.
Cuisines of Europe
European Cuisine is filled with variety throughout the European countries with classics like Pizza in Italy, Croissants in France, Wiener Schnitzel in Germany, Bangers and Mash in Great Britain, and so much more. There are rich stews and dumplings in the Balkans, succulent seafood along the Mediterranean, savory cheeses throughout the continent, and iconic traditional dishes found in each country. These cuisines are not only delectable but they tell the story of the history, people, and traditions of each country.
Iconic European Road Trips
From the Mediterranean to the Nordics, Europe boasts such an amazing blend of cultures and landscapes for you to discover. You have mountains, the ocean, lakes, culture, history, and so much squeezed into a relatively small area. Add to that the sense of freedom of a road trip, you’ll find it’s the perfect way to explore!
WHY SKIING IN EUROPE?
