Kurna (also Gourna, Gurna, Qurna, Qurnah or Qurneý) are various spelling for a group of three closely related villages (New Qurna, Qurna and Sheikh `Adb el-Qurna) located on the West Bank of the River Nile opposite the modern city of Luxor in Egypt near the Theban Hills. The Colossi of Memnon have survived for 3,400 years and were an acoustic wonder of the ancient world. SINCE 1350 B.C., these ancient Egyptian statues have loomed over the Theban Necropolis.
