Explore Puglia (Apulia)

Situated on the Adriatic Sea, Bari is the capital of Apulia and the second largest city in southern Italy. This port city is also known as the heart of the metropolitan region.

Also known as the 'Florence of the South', and is best known for its unique style of baroque architecture, which bears its name - barocco leccese.

Foggia is a city in Apulia's northernmost province of Capitanata, also known as the granary of Italy.

Taranto is an important port in Apulia, Southern Italy, thought to be founded by the ancient Spartans, who used to call it Taras. Seafood is this town's claim for fame, with some of Italy's best shellfish.

The small Italian town of Manfredonia lies on Italy’s Adriatic coast. The town was founded by King Manfredi of Sicily between the years 1256-1263. The main sights are historic monuments - Byzantine, Romanesque, Norman, and medieval.

Alberobello looks like a picture from a fairytale. The historical center has a great concentration of 'trulli' and has been declared an international monument. Trulli are beehive-shaped houses that were built in the 13th century.

WHY PUGLIA (APULIA)?

Puglia is situated in the southeastern most part of Italy (in the 'heel') boasting a stunning coastline, charming little towns, beautiful countryside, and an 'oh-so-very Italian' way of life. For some visitors, it's the gateway to Greece from the port of Brindisi. Apulia is little known, but absolutely intriguing, embracing some of Italy's most rural (and poorest) areas, but also some of its most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes.
