COUNTY CLARE - GETTING THERE

By Air

County Clare is home to Shannon International Airport with services to Europe, the U.K. and the U.S.A.

Of all European Airports it is situated at the most western point, Shannon was designated as Ireland's Transatlantic Airport at its inception by the Irish Government. The airport itself covers about 2,000 acres in County Clare on the north bank of the Shannon Estuary and is located approximately 15 miles west of Limerick City and a similar distance south of Ennis.

By Road

Most parts of County Clare are accessible through National Roads marked 'N' on roadmaps (e.g. 'N85'). Smaller country roads are denoted with the letter 'R'. Other roads or tracks may be prefixed with the letter 'L', although these roads are narrower and usually not marked.

By Bus

Bus Eireann provides connections to and from all of Ireland's major cities.
There is a bus station in Ennis Town, which will provide you with a timetable of daily services. There are a number of bus stops located around Co. Clare.

Other Bus providers in Clare include:
Citylink provide a service between Shannon Airport and Galway city.
JJ Kavanagh and Sons provide a service between Shannon Airport, Limerick and Dublin Airport.
Galway to Lahinch Hop on Hop off Bus Service. Service operates seven days a week from April to October 31. Leaving Galway Coach Station, Forster Street at 08:00am daily the coach stops at various locations along the route and returns to Galway in the evening, to arrive back at Galway Coach Station at 6:35pm.

By Train

The only train station in County Clare is in Ennis town which offers daily services to Limerick, Cork, Dublin and Galway.
